Deer Herd Analysis

Explanation

This service is for deer hunters who have an interest in getting more mature bucks and does to frequent their hunting land during daylight hours. Doing so allows the hunter to encounter deer in a peaceful setting where the deer are not worried about the presence of humans. As a gift to people who hire us for this service, we teach you how to avoid pressuring deer near food and water sources, as well as in transition areas. If you follow our advice the deer will never know that the human who manages the land, is the same human who hunts that herd. We teach you to be invisible to deer.

DBS can advise you in regards to the best locations for food plots, tree stands, permanent box-type stands, ground blinds, and watering holes. We can teach you how to hunt our way, so multiple deer hunters hunting the same parcel of 20 acres or more can set up and have an equal chance of encountering the king of the herd.

We can show you where to walk, and how to get there, and if some new cover is needed we will inform you of that.

We scout 40 to 80 acres (per 8 hour day) on foot while analyzing all deer sign found, to determine whether or not the deer feel safe on your land in daylight. We point out the buck trails, doe trails, king trails, and unisex/highways that deer use as they come and go.

We will bring one Bob Mercier Deer Trail Stick for each attendee, and teach you to use it to determine what deer trail you are on, pecking order buck doe, king, unisex trails or highways.

If you walk with us while we scout (we will teach you how to determine the lot lines between kings).

We will explain our methods to discover the approximate age and width of the inside spread of the herd king.

We focus on solving “the lack of deer using the land” problems by giving you our professional advice.
We do not do any work on your land. If requested we can refer some reputable companies to:
  • clear trees and brush
  • Work the soil and prepare for planting
  • plant food plots
  • add watering holes
  • remove or relocate portable tree stands
  • Install permanent treestands
At this time we do not provide any deer herd mapping, or report. We are hired to provide our advice verbally. For an additional fee of $200, we will record our meeting and send you an audio file of the summary of our day together.
We do not teach the D.I.E. Scrape System as part of a Land Analysis. There is no time for that. If you want a Private Lesson as well, then you will have to hire us for a private lesson another day.
We work based on an 8-hour day.
Current Price: $1000 + travel and lodging expenses for 8 hours with the landowner (spouse and kids are free to attend).
Additional Hours are $150 each. If booking multiple days, you will get 5% off of the $1000 price for Day 2, Day 3 etc…

Frequently Asked Questions

How do customers dress for private lessons?

It is up to the customer. If deer season is on, then DBS recommends you are scent-free and dressed in camouflage from head to toe, including a mask and gloves. We go where deer go, and you do not want to get busted.

Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall, where the weather permits, and temperatures are between 20 degrees and 75 degrees. Exceptions can be made upon request.

WI, IL, MN, MI, OH, IA, IN, KY, MS, MO, PA, AL, AR, TN, TX, OK, NE, and others if we are asked to go there. Check our Calendar to see when we will be in your state. Call us to discuss any questions you may have about private lessons. We are here to help you.

We can scout 10 to 60 acres in an 8 hour day, depending on how much detail our customers want us to teach them.

No, as long as you have gotten written permission from the land owners to allow us to walk their land with you. We require that you either own, rent, or lease the land, and that you can prove it to us if we request proof. We will not trespass or go where guiding is not legal.

After a private lesson, can I call you for pointers or to ask questions?

Yes you may call us, but respectfully we will have to assign a fee to the time that you need to discuss your questions. We are not obligated to providing free advice after a private lesson.

No, but we highly recommend that you understand the way deer herds operate, so you can make sense of the actions of the bucks and other deer you are sure to encounter while hunting with the Dominance Is Everything™ Deer Hunting System. Owning and reading the book is recommended but not required.

Yes. If you have only one hour to hunt, you should set up a D.I.E. Scrape. The first deer to see it, if not the king reports it to the king, and he starts hunting you immediately after that.

Eight Minutes. That is all it takes some people to harvest the king of the herd. We advise our clients to think about each day as a set of 15 minute time periods. The king can come in anyone of them. So ask yourself. Can I wait in this stand for 15 more minutes? If you say yes, then you can have great success using the D.I.E. Scrape System.
